That was the text Abbott sent when he was lost out bush (his guide went off to find a narcotic plant!). Unfortunately he couldn't work out how to put spaces between words and it failed to send to his press secretary anyway. Fortunately the guide reappeared hours later and Tony was returned to us...
Put yourself in Claire Kimball's shoes. She is Tony's press secretary. Nightmare.
Abbott admitted to a journo that "he often promises things in the heat of the moment that are not to be taken as the truth" - can you imagine the media frenzy following that statement??? And now he has the voting public doubting his every word.
After one meeting with mining companies here in the West, Abbott openly declared we should cut off the dole to young people and send them to the mines to work where there are labour shortages!! The man has spoken without consulting with his party and most definitely before clearing his statements with his PR team!!
A little extra thought would highlight two major issues immediately: a) labour needs require a level of skill/training and b) you can't just expect young Australians to up and leave and relocate to remote North-West Western Australia! This sort of policy will result in much hardship and angst within our community.
Social media went ballistic. Have a poke around the internet.
He has strong opinions against abortions and other controversial topics that gets media frothing at the bit and the public tweeting away their outrage to such one-sided views.
I am so looking forward to the Gillard v Abbott's banter. While it is scary the man might lead this country after the forthcoming election, listening to his verbal diarrhoea shall be entertaining.
Back in the day, speaking your political views out aloud was a no no. But I and many others from my generation do.
